Merlin Guild is self-hosted: it runs entirely on your own computer. There is no account to create, no server that holds your funds, and nothing custodial. This page explains what that means for you in practice.
What local-first means
The app, your wallets, and your data all live on your machine. When you trade or mix, you are acting directly with the network from your own device, not through a service that acts on your behalf. Nobody else holds your keys.
Where your data lives
Your sensitive data stays on your computer and is encrypted there. The app does not upload your wallets or secrets to a server, so there is no shared database that someone could breach to reach your funds.
What does not leave your machine
Your private keys and your master password stay local. The app does not phone home with your secrets, and it does not need an account login to work. Network activity is limited to the on-chain actions you choose to take.
What this means for you
